2008 Ice World Cup Information and Application Procedure

The UIAA recognizes Ice Climbing as a competitive sport and is responsible for the organization and promotion of the Ice Climbing World Cup and International Championships. There are three types of Ice Climbing competitions:

  1. Speed
  2. Lead difficulty
  3. Boulder difficulty

Rules and Regulations

UIAA Ice Climbing competitions are organized as per the UIAA Ice Climbing Rules & Regulations handbook. The rules and regulations are approved and enforced by the International Commission for Ice Climbing Competitions (ICICC) . These rules include both aspects for the athletes as well as the organizers of the events.

As per UIAA Ice Climbing Rules & Regulations, athletes looking to compete in Ice Climbing World Cup and World Championship competitions are required to obtain the ICICC International Licence. Athletes should download the required UIAA-ICICC International Licence application to compete.

The AAC is the approved federation for all athletes from the United States. Applications must be approved, signed and sent in by a representative of the AAC. As of January 2008 the fee for a license is 50 Euros. Athletes will make payment to the AAC, and the AAC will then pay the application fee. Upon completion of the application form, please call the AAC at (303) 384-0110 to arrange payment.



2008 Ski Mountaineering Information and Application Procedure

The ISMC is open to all member associations of the UIAA that are or intend to be actively engaged is Ski Mountaineering Competitions. The official languages are English and French.

How to Apply:

To participate in an official ISMC race, athletes must to apply for an international license through their national federation (AAC). The license form has to be signed by the national federation and the athletes and send to the ISMC office.

ISMC will send to the national federation the confirmation of the license, which is valid for one season.

The new ISMC license form includes as well the requirement of sports information of the athlete and a picture. This information is important to promote the sport and enlarge the press impact. We thank all athletes for they effort helping develop this sport.
