The American Alpine Club

Information Resources

The American Alpine Club is perhaps best known for its leadership in climbing history and information.

Members have access, on-site or by mail, to the 28,000-volume AAC Library.

The American Alpine Journal, published annually, has become the recognized document of record for mountaineering achievement worldwide. The entire contents of the American Alpine Journal (AAJ) from 1929 through 2006 are now searchable online. AAC members also have online access to the 2007 AAJ and preview stories from the 2008 edition, as well as a growing collection of topos from climbs around the world. Visit the Members Only area to access these features.

Accidents in North American Mountaineering is an annual educational resource. Its lessons are invaluable to climbers young and old.

Another valuable resource for climbers and the public is The Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum, which opened in early 2008 in Golden, Colorado.
