Dee Molenaar is a well-known climber and artist, famous for his impressionistic style, uniquely capturing high mountain environments. This original piece is a framed, oil, depicting the West Ridge of Everest, and was created especially for Tom Hornbein, a member of the 1963 American Everest Expedition. This priceless item reflects the iconic cover photo on Hornbein’s classic of mountaineering literature, Everest: The West Ridge. 

A masterpiece of mountaineering art, it measures 30 1/2 x 36 inches framed.

This unique package represents an amazing opportunity to own a collection of museum quality climbing gear and clothing items from the first American expedition to Everest. Team leader Norman Dyhrenfurth wore this gear while he attempted to reach the top of the world in 1963. Items include his red down jacket, blue down pants, expedition tent, green sleeping bag, arctic mittens, face warmers and shovel. This gear is in excellent
condition despite its arduous adventure high on Everest in the Himalaya.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to take home a part of mountaineering history
from the historic climb that placed Americans on the summit of the highest peak in the
