Volunteer in the Section—Holding an Event & Speakers
Although most events have been held in and around Washington DC, there is no reason that we can't hold activities in other areas where there are DC members. The Club is encouraging this, in part through the role of the regional managers that have been hired to help plan events. All that's required is to contact Dave Giacomin or the regional manger Lisa Hummel with your ideas.

Washington DC Section Chairman
Dave Giacomin, Washington DC Section Chairman and native of Washington, DC. Dave Giacomin has been a member of American Alpine Club for the past five years. He climbs ice, rock and alpine routes whenever possible. His true passion is in high altitude mountaineering and some of his summits include Mt. Rainier, Illiniza Sur, Illiniza Norte, Cotopaxi, Mt. Whitney, The Grand Teton and 12+ 14,000 ft peaks in Colorado. "I look forward to helping the DC section grow into a powerful resource for local climbers to learn to climb safer and harder routes." He lives with his wife and dog near downtown Silver Spring, MD.

Other Chapters in the DC Section
Rick DeJarnette, originally a native of Colorado, Rick has been climbing for almost 20 years. While spending his days at a desk job, he enjoys spending (very) early mornings and weekends rock and ice climbing, with an occasional trip back to the Rockies or the Tetons for a “bigger objective." Now happily residing in Richmond, VA with his wife and two young boys, Rick is excited to strengthen the community of and opportunities for climbers in Richmond by increasing the presence of the American Alpine Club. Please feel free to contact him with questions or to help out!
DC University ChapterChairwoman
Charlotte Dreizen is the Chair of the DC University Chapter and has been a member of the AAC for the past five years. After summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro at age 15, she shifted from competitive and ultra-distance rowing to find her home on rock instead of water. Climbing both rock and ice, Charlotte is looking to increase the technicality of her objectives at higher altitudes. Growing up in New York City, she also chaired the regional association for the Venturing contingent of the Boy Scouts of America. Currently, Charlotte serves as an outdoor guide for the George Washington University where she studies International Development and Environmental Studies. She's looking forward to connecting young climbers at DC universities to the immense wealth of knowledge and experience of the DMV climbing community.
