The American Alpine Club is pleased to announce that it is an IFSC World Cup Partner for this weekend’s [October 8-9, 2011] World Cup climbing competition in Boulder, CO. This event is the first World Cup event held in the United States in 22 years and the Club is honored to be presenting the Opening Ceremonies on Friday Night. The Club’s Executive Director, Phil Powers, will be speaking at the ceremonies, which follow the Opening Ceremonies Parade down Boulder’s Pearl Street.
59 Athletes have registered, including 25 from the US. Check out the full athlete list from the IFSC website. Athletes will compete in Saturday’s Warm-Up and Qualifying rounds, and Sunday’s Semi-Finals and Finals. All competitions will be held at Boulder’s Movement Climbing Gym. The AAC will have a booth at both days’ events where staff and volunteers will educate and excite competition-goers about the Club’s programs.
