AAC Regional and Section News The Washington DC Section has roughly 300 members in DC, Maryland and Virginia. We climb ice, rock and alpine routes as well as other sports in the mountain environment. We run climbing speaking events, conduct climbing education events, climb rock and ice together and facilitate a stronger climbing community in the DC area. Volunteer in the Section—Holding an Event & Speakers
Although most events have been held in and around Washington DC, there is no reason that we can't hold activities in other areas where there are DC members. The Club is encouraging this, in part through the role of the regional managers that have been hired to help plan events. All that's required is to contact Dave Giacomin or the regional manger Lisa Hummel with your ideas.

Washington DC Section Chairman

Dave Giacomin, Washington DC Section Chairman and native of Washington, DC. Dave Giacomin has been a member of American Alpine Club for the past five years. He climbs ice, rock and alpine routes whenever possible. His true passion is in high altitude mountaineering and some of his summits include Mt. Rainier, Illiniza Sur, Illiniza Norte, Cotopaxi, Mt. Whitney, The Grand Teton and 12+ 14,000 ft peaks in Colorado. "I look forward to helping the DC section grow into a powerful resource for local climbers to learn to climb safer and harder routes." He lives with his wife and dog near downtown Silver Spring, MD.
