This is our effort to welcome more women into the AAC community and bring attention to the need to support women in climbing. These shirts, with art by AAC member Brooklyn Bell, are designed to mean more.

A goal of #climblikeagirl is to spark discussion and reclaim statements around "...like a girl" in climbing and outdoor recreation—because climbing like a girl, like a woman, like whoever you want to be—is a powerful and positive thing.

What does #climblikeagirl mean to you? Wear your shirt proudly, snap a photo, use the hashtag, let us know. Then go crush it out there.

Use PROMOCODE: CLIMBLIKEAGIRLSHIRT when you Join or Renew from Sept. 14th to Oct. 31st and receive a free #climblikeagirl tank or Tee! The hashtag is a way for everyone to follow this campaign, but is not printed on the shirts. Non-binary folks and men, this is for you, too.

  • We supported the Sexual Harassment in Climbing Survey.

  • We support women's initiatives by partnering with groups Camber Outdoors (we've taken the Camber Pledge!), Outdoor Women's Alliance, and FlashFoxy.

  • We're working a a chapter-by-chapter level to support other local women's events and initiatives.

  • The American Alpine Journal is working toward telling more women's stories this year.

  • We're actively working to have an even gender split in our member base that reflects the demographics of the climbing community.

  • Do you have ideas? Aspects of all this that we could be doing better? Contact us!
