DC Section - Northern VA Chapter: Speaker Series

  • Sportrock Climbing Centers - Sterling, VA (map)

Come on out to Sportrock Sterling for the next event in the AAC Speaker Series! On Tuesday 2/27 we are featuring local climber Sally Ontiveros. Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Sally’s love for adventure began at an early age. She has since called 7 different states home, before settling back in Virginia to be close to family. She got her start climbing while at school in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, and has since had the opportunity to climb all over the US including places like the Tetons, Sierras, Red Rocks, Joshua Tree, Moab, and Indian Creek. Sally has been guiding for 6 years in both single and multi-pitch terrain, and is also a member and course provider for the American Mountain Guides Association. She began her guiding career in college at Seneca Rocks Climbing School where she cut her teeth as a new guide. Since then she has been lucky enough to guest guide in the Sierras, Joshua Tree, the Red River Gorge, New River Gorge, and Stone Mountain. Nowadays, Sally has taken a break from guiding to pursue her dream to open a bakery, but still runs the occasional clinic for the AAC or local climbing festival. On 2/27, she is presenting on how we can find adventure right here in the DC area. See you guys there!
