"Some 15 years ago I turned my passion for skiing into my lifetime occupation in the form of ski mountaineering. By combining my three favorite things, skiing, climbing and traveling, I have been able to explore the world in a way I could never have imagined as a child who grew up on a boat in the Northwest. As a member of the AAC, I am supported in my exotic and sometimes risky exploration by a community of like-minded individuals. Through AAC publications, like the annual American Alpine Journal, I am always inspired and even find new ideas for future trips. AAC’s local and global rescue benefits continues to improve and is an often much-needed resource whether I am adventuring with my kids or attempting a first ski descent somewhere off the maps.”

“I’ve been a member of the AAC since the mid 1990’s bluntly because it’s ridiculously cool! The greatest mountaineers in the history of American alpinism have contributed to the organization through their memberships, as well as accounts of climbs and expeditions all over the world. This accumulated history makes the AAC the greatest source of beta for adventures to literally ever region of every mountain range, and every spot where one can climb. I’ve gone on ski expeditions to nearly 50 of the world’s highest peaks, and all started at the AAC!"

"I'm a climber, runner, skier and mountaineer. More simply put I enjoy moving quickly in the mountains over all mediums that mother nature shares with us whether that be trails, rock, ice or snow. Long days in the mountains with plenty of smiles are what I'm looking for.
When the snow falls, and often even when it isn't, I consider myself a ski mountaineer. The AAC has introduced some incredible benefits recently that have added safety, support and resources to my passion for skiing mountains.
At the end of the day, we are all simply "mountain folk", but it's great to see the AAC making Ski Mountaineering a focus as they continue to connect with this great tribe.”

“The AAC supports me as a ski mountaineer with their outstanding Global Rescue benefit world wide. I appreciate that this growing facet of mountaineering is being recognized and embraced, as skiers push their limits not only on the way up, but also on their way down.”
