Meet Your Western Slope Section Chair: Dan Chehayl
Dan Chehayl got started climbing after high school on a NOLS trip to Arizona. Once in college in Vermont his climbing transformed from a hobby to a passion. Semesters where spent trying to get stronger in New England with anticipation of heading to Colorado or Utah to climb as soon as the next school break would allow.
For the past eight years he has resided in Ouray, Colorado working at the Ouray Ice Park first as an Ice Farmer and now as the Executive Director.
While always excited to travel to far-away places to climb, Dan sees endless potential and all that he really needs to satisfy his desire to climb and be a part of the climbing community right at home in the Western Slope of Colorado. From the splitter cracks in Paradox Valley, the sport cragging and ice climbing right out his front door in Ouray, to the high alpine quartzite in the Grenadier range of the Weminuche Wilderness a good adventure is never far off in his mountain paradise.
