Ways To Give

Donate today and support the AAC’s work. With your gift, we will grow one step closer to our vision of a community of passionate, engaged, educated climbers.

Together, we share a passion for climbing, the community it inspires, and the wild spaces that host us. When we pool our passion together we have overwhelming power and possibility: to protect our public lands, climb to new levels, educate each other on safe climbing practices, and connect with climbers of every background. With this dream in mind, the Club offers grants, world-renowned publications, rescue and medical coverage, community gatherings, opportunities for advocacy, preservation of our climbing history, support for climbers experiencing grief, and more. Your gift will help make this possible.

There are many creative ways to support the American Alpine Club’s work. If you have questions or would like more information, we would love to talk with you! Please call our office at (303) 384-0110 or reach out to our VP of Development, Heidi McDowell, at [email protected].

Monthly Giving

As a member of our monthly giving program, you provide donations directly from your credit card to the American Alpine Club over an extended period of time. Monthly contributions will begin on the date of your first contribution and continue as long as you wish. You can change, suspend or cancel your gift at any time.

Matched Gift

Did you know that you could double or triple your dollar donations to the AAC? Through a matched gift, you can not only increase your giving but also help direct other employees in your company to donate to the AAC. Many companies offer their employees an opportunity to have donations to their favorite non-profit organization doubled by matching the money given dollar for dollar. Matched giving is a great way for companies to recognize and support the interests of their employees while helping on a philanthropic level.

The AAC has a recognized 501(c)(3) (tax-exempt) status by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and is eligible to receive matching gifts. Why not ask your employer if they have a matched giving program to support you with your fundraising. To participate, please request a matching gift form from your HR department and complete it. Send us your completed matching gift form and we will notify you when your gift has been matched.

Stock Donations

Stock donations are a great way to support the programs you care about most. To facilitate a gift of stock, please use the following:

Step 1: Initiate Transfer

The first step is to contact your broker to initiate the transfer. Your broker can arrange to have the securities delivered electronically to the American Alpine Club through Charles Schwab & Co:

  • Charles Schwab & Co DTC Number: 0164 code 40;

  • the AAC's Account Number: 1544-4329

Step 2: Notify the American Alpine Club

Please provide us some information about the gift for audit and acknowledgment purposes. Notify the AAC now or send a letter with the following information:

  • Donor's full name and complete address

  • Name and number of securities transferred

  • Date of the transfer

  • Specific American Alpine Club program to which gift should be directed, if any

Piolet Society

The Piolet Society honors those who remember the AAC in their estate plans. Most estate gifts come as a bequest through a will or living trust, or as a beneficiary designation of an IRA or life insurance policy. Each of these options allows you to retain full control of your assets during life. Through the Piolet Society, you can leave a legacy as timeless as the mountains themselves.

Pledge Your Birthday

Do you have all the gear you could ever need? Do you want to give back? Please consider creating a Facebook fundraiser for the American Alpine Club.

To make it easy on you, we've created language and hope you will share a favorite landscape or photo of your latest climb. All you need to do is follow these four easy steps:

  • Step 1: Once logged into your personal Facebook page, visit Facebook's fundraiser page.

  • Step 2: Select nonprofit, how much you want to and raise and an end date. We recommend setting it at $1000 minimum, and you can always increase this number.

  • Step 3: Fill in a title and why you are raising money. Copy the following language or tell your friends why you support the Club. For example, “Dear friends and family, This year, instead of gifts, I’d like you to consider supporting the American Alpine Club’s vital work protecting the wild places we play. The Club’s goal is to treasure, protect, and care for our wild landscapes. As a member of the Club it’s important to me to keep our climbing areas open and to support and educate competent climbers. Your donation will help ensure these precious landscapes may be enjoyed by all.”

  • Step 4 (Photo Page): Select "Edit" and upload your photo and then press "Create". Your fundraiser is now live. Thank you.

Donate Your Tax Refund

Turning your Colorado state tax refund into action is simple:

  • Enter American Alpine Club and our registration number 20023003512 in the Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund line on your state tax return or tax software. You may also provide this information to your tax preparer.
