AAC’S 2024 GALA WEEKEND SCHEDULE

Thursday, April 25

6:30-9pm: Event featuring Eddie Taylor and Kate Rutherford
Start the weekend right with an evening of friends, fun, & finger foods! Nibble on tasty bites provided by Farm to Crag, while enjoying presentations from Patagonia athletes Kate Rutherford and Eddie Taylor.

Friday, April 26

6-9pm: Send N’ Social
Play games, win amazing raffle prizes, talk to community organizations, hang with the pros, and more!

  • Location: Stronghold Climbing Gym - Lincoln Heights

  • Included with all Gala tickets.

  • AAC members and Stronghold members are invited to join! You do not need to be attending the Gala in order to join this event. Day passes will be available for purchase at the door.

  • A shuttle ride to this event from the hotel is available, leaving the hotel at 5:30pm and returning by 9pm.

Saturday, April 27

9:00am: Climbing at Stoney Point
Let the American Alpine Club LA Chapter show you the best climbing in the heart of the city! We will have top ropes and crash pads available for our guests to climb at Stoney Point.

  • 8:30am: Shuttle departs the Hilton Universal Studios for climbing at Stoney Point

  • 2:30pm: Shuttle departs Stoney Point to return to the Hilton Universal Studios

  • Cost: $50 Purchase your tickets by clicking here.

  • Please note this event is not included with Gala tickets. You do not need to be attending the Gala in order to join this outing. Space is limited.

10:00am: Coffee Chat with Graham Zimmerman & Benjamin Gabriel
Find out what the AAC has been up to in our Membership Meeting featuring the AAC Board of Directors President Graham Zimmerman and Executive Director Benjamin Gabriel. Sip coffee, swap stories, and share insight to the current status and future direction of the American Alpine Club.

  • Location: Hilton Universal Studios, Club Room on the first floor

  • No registration required and all AAC members are welcome to join!

10am - 12pm: adidas TERREX Hollywood Sign Hike / Trail Run
Whatever your level, all our welcome for this fun hike / run hosted by our friends at adidas. The group will carpool to the Wisdom Tree Trailhead and run to the Hollywood Sign Overlook. Is there anything more iconic than that!?

  • FreeHiker and Agravic Speed shoe demos available

  • Location: Meet it the Hilton Lobby at 10am

  • Cost: Free! No registration required.

5-7pm: Gala Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction
Meet the 2024 Climbing Awardees along with other special guests, reconnect with old climbing partners and meet new ones, participate in our stacked silent auction, enjoy the open bar, tasty hors d’oeuvre, and live music!

  • Location: Hilton LA/Universal City—Prefunction Ballroom

  • Gala ticket required

7-10pm: Annual Benefit Gala
Gala, the 2024 Climbing Awards, dinner, and presentations by Tommy Caldwell, Sibylle Hechtel, & Mikey Schaefer!
Dress code is climber formal, whatever that means to you, come as you are.

  • Location: Hilton LA/Universal City—Sierra Ballroom

  • Gala ticket required
