The AAC New River Gorge Campground is located in Lansing, WV in the heart of the New River Gorge National Park within walking distance of popular climbing crags and hiking trails. This is a perfect location for climbers, hikers, and outdoors enthusiasts who are looking to camp, foster new friendships, and experience all the beauty that the New River Gorge has to offer.

New River Gorge Campground FAQs

  • Yes! Reservations are required in advance. Same-day reservations must be made no later than 7 p.m. on the date of your arrival. You can make a reservation online or by visiting during office hours.

  • Campsite: $25 member / $35 non member

    Communal Site: $12 member / $15 non-member

    Van Site: $18 member / $22 non-member

  • Each private campsite accommodates two standard-sized vehicles. All vehicles must be registered at check-in. Additional vehicles must park in the overflow lot at the campground entrance. Vehicles over 20’, trailers, and RVs are not permitted.

  • Large vehicles have increased strain on infrastructure and the forest floor. Other nearby campgrounds can accommodate vans, campers, and RVs.

  • No. Private tent sites accommodate up to four guests. Larger groups should reserve multiple adjacent sites or communal spots.

  • No. Individual fires are not permitted due to fire risk. Two communal fire rings are available for all guests.

  • Other than standard camping gear, you might want to bring some accessory cord for securing your tent on our platforms. If you are going to use a hammock or tarp to cover tents, padding for your cord around trees is required. Firewood is provided at the communal firepits. 

  • Well-behaved pets are welcome at the campground as long as they are on-leash or contained at all times. If your pet is disturbing other guests, or the campground hosts believes them to be dangerous, you will be asked to leave with no refund.

    Please do not leave your pets unattended. Please pick up all your pet’s waste!

  • We are usually open from around the second week of March to around the first of December, although this all depends on weather conditions.

  • Payment is not charged until the day of your reservation. All cancellations are subject to the following cancellation fee:


    - More than 30 days notice: 0% Cancellation Fee
    - 7-30 days notice: 50% Cancellation Fee
    - Less than 7 days notice: 100% Cancellation Fee
