Three Ways to Celebrate National Public Lands Day

This Saturday, September 26, is National Public Lands Day, a chance to celebrate the crags, trails, powder stashes, and outdoor places that make your favorite adventures possible across America. Here are three ways to make the most of the holiday.

Get Outside

Make the most of our public lands. Go for a hike, bag a few pitches, or just find a place to slow down and enjoy being outside.

Give Back

Public lands don't take care of themselves. National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. Each year, thousands of volunteers come together to help restore and improve the lands.

Getting involved is easy—head to Volunteer.gov and filter opportunities by city, state, or land management agency to find a project near you.

Speak Up

When federal agencies propose changes to how public lands are managed, they often provide opportunities for the public to review those proposals and submit comments before decisions are finalized.

Finding those opportunities hasn’t always been easy, but onX built a new Public Land Comment Hub that pulls every open federal public land comment period, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, onto one interactive map. They did the digging so you don't have to. It's a one-stop shop to find when and where your voice can actually make a difference on land management decisions that affect the places you care about.
