OUTDOOR EDUCATION GRANT

Your goal is to take your climbing to the next level; our goal is to help you and your partner stay safe as you broaden your climbing skill set.

Are you and your partner in adventure interested in transitioning from the gym to the crag? Aiming to lead your first trad pitches? Hoping to sign up for your first AIARE courses? We designed the Partner in Adventure Grant for you!

The Partner in Adventure Grant, created in collaboration with TINCUP Whiskey, will fund educational opportunities from local guide services for you and your partner to take your pursuit to the next level. Open to duos of all experience levels, the grant will award partners up to $1,000 for the educational opportunity of your choice. Apply now and take the next step in your climbing progression.


What is a Partner In Adventure?

A partner in adventure is there as you dream up your next ambitious pursuit. They encourage you to push beyond your comfort zone and motivate you to explore the world in ways that are meaningful to you. They galvanize you to take on new challenges, grow your skills, and imagine new adventures, by their side.



APPLICATION GUIDELINES

  • Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.

  • Identify a certified guide, service, or course you’ll work with. 

  • Only open to U.S. residents.

  • Objective must be in the U.S. (includes Alaska and Hawaii).

  • Be prepared to explain why you’ve chosen this objective and how you expect to achieve it. Be as specific as possible.

  • Courses, classes, or trips must occur within one year of the application award date.


AWARDEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Within two months of experience, all grant recipients are asked to submit a report to the AAC.

  • If for any reason the project is canceled or significantly changed, awarded funds must be returned to the AAC in full. Please contact the AAC Grants Manager if your proposal changes. 

  • Funds must be used within one year of the grant award date.

  • Recipients agree to mention the TINCUP Partner In Adventure grant as well as their support from the AAC if presenting about the grant experience. 

  • You may be asked by the AAC or TINCUP to give a public presentation about your grant at Club events.

  • Recipients will act as American Alpine Club ambassadors to the wider climbing community and are expected to champion the mission and values of the Club.

  • Recipients should do their best to practice environmentally low impact and Leave No Trace ethics, acting as strong mountain stewards.

  • Any photos of the expedition team or individuals submitted with the Trip Report are property of the American Alpine Club and TINCUP and may be reproduced in any manner the AAC or TINCUP desires for marketing or promotional purposes.
