OZARKS CRAGGIN’ CLASSIC

May 10-12, 2024

The American Alpine Club is teaming up with Tenaya this May 10-12, to bring you a NEW stop on the Craggin’ Tour: Bentonville, AR!

If you love secret crags, and fresh, textured sandstone, this Craggin’ is for you! We’re stoked to be joining forces with the local climbing community in Arkansas to bring this 3-day festival to one of the up and coming climbing areas of the country. Developers in AR have been busy, finding beautiful single pitch sport and trad lines, and the kind of sandstone boulders people obsess over. We know climbers are often itching for the quietude of forest crags, and new rock to challenge themselves on—you won’t want to miss the utter sense of adventure and exploration that comes with Ozarks climbing!

We pride ourselves on the fact that the Craggin’s are a party with a heart, so, this weekend these walls are also hosting engaging clinics led by professional climbers and guides and a chance to make this corner of the Earth a little better with a crag stewardship project. We’re excited to be hosting a Climb United meet-up, and an adaptive clinic too, which have each become staples of building community at the Craggins! Score awesome deals in the silent auction, dance to live music, and enjoy delicious local food trucks and beer.

What makes these events truly exceptional is the community of friendly folks who show up to celebrate our shared love of climbing. Become part of this community and grab your tickets today.

See you in the Ozarks!

  • In this clinic you will gain a more complete understanding of fear and stress in your body, reframe your responses as adaptable, and learn about specific tools you can use to start to change this experience for yourself. This clinic goes WAY beyond practice falls. This clinic is taught by @trangoclimbing / @tenayaclimbing athlete @karly_rager. She is incredibly passionate about the role our mental world plays in our climbing progression and cannot wait to help you with your head game on rock! Come with an open mind!

Prerequisites: any climbing level, but must be proficient to top rope belay

Equipment Needed: Harness, helmet, Autolocking belay device, climbing shoes

  • How to efficiently and safely project sport climbs. Cover topics including warming up, stick clipping, clipping up, rehearsing moves, soft catches, getting back on the wall, figuring out beta, and providing a great belay.

The instructor team is stacked with supportive, experienced instructors that are ready to offer personalized assistance. Clinic participants will complete a questionnaire upon registration to help determine the assistance they need to have a comfortable day climbing outside, and Craig will coordinate a plan for success.

In this clinic, professional climber Marcus Garcia will explain basic anchors systems, discuss what matters most when building anchors, and how to keep a team secure on climbs. This clinic focuses on the simplicity of anchors and will help answer questions about using different anchor setups.
